Tell me more about the Pfizer or Merck COVID pill?

The Pfizer pill, Paxlovid and the Merck pill, Molnupiravir, are oral medications taken within five days of the onset of symptoms of COVID infection. They directly attack the COVID-19 virus by preventing it from replicating. These medications prevent hospitalization and death in patients who are at high risk for severe disease which includes age greater than 60 or anyone with a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, heart disease or obesity.

Do you take insurance?

We don’t take insurance. We charge a simple flat amount of $60. We will issue you a receipt of our service and you can use that receipt to get reimbursement from your insurance company. We can’t guarantee that your insurance will reimburse the full amount

How does testing work?

In an ideal scenario, you would already have been tested. In some cases, the diagnosis is certain that further testing would not be needed. Other options include that you can purchase a rapid test kit from your pharmacy for around $25, go to a local testing site or come into our office. We work with you on a case by case basis.

Are there any side effects?

The initial studies that were conducted for both medications were notable for no significant side effects. Paxlovid is known to have drug interactions with other common medications such as statins. The safety of the medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding is unknown.
